Ratification of Circumnavigation

I have previously stated that the World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) would ratify my circumnavigation attempt. With all the people lately attempting to be the youngest to circumnavigate the WSSRC has released the following statment.

We concentrate on speed record attempts and claims, and no longer recognize “human condition” categories which can expand to such an extent that almost anyone would be able to claim a record of some sort. The other issue is that whilst we can clearly monitor and ratify “speed/time” records – at which
we have become rather expert – the verification of age/disability/marital status, etc. is a less exact science.

This quote was reprinted from Scuttlebutt 2915. I have also investigated Guinness World Records and their rules do not provide for records amongst disability groups. I am weighing my options of organizations to ratify the record and will keep everyone updated on the findings.

Bringing Blind Victoria Home

Two days ago was the day I had been long awaiting! We had to delay bringing Blind Victoria up the river because the engine wasn’t pumping water. After fixing the pump I was able to get crew together for August 5th. It was a great uneventful trip up the river. The sailing center marked the channel coming in for us and we fit in the slip fine. I wasn’t sure if we’d be to wide to fit. I knew it would be close, but we had more room than I thought.

Capt. Billy and Mark were my crew and both were a big help. Thanks to mark for all the pictures, and to Capt. Billy for docking the boat.

I’m so glad to finally have her here so I can prepare her for the voyage of a lifetime.
